Part 1: Latitude and Longitude

Let's plot some points!

  1. First time:
    1. Visit dwtkns.com/pointplotter.
    2. Open this list of volcanoes from NOAA in a new tab.
    3. Copy and paste the coordinates for the volcanoes into the text box on dwtkns.com/pointplotter and press Plot points.
  2. Second time:
    1. Visit maps.co/gis. You do not need to sign up for an account for this exercise.
    2. Click Import Data.
    3. Give the layer a name such as volcanoes.
    4. Click Copy & Paste.
    5. Paste the volcanoes coordinates in the text area.
    6. The results might be different from what you expected: why?
